Michael Ferguson

Founder of gymetrics SA. Michael is the CEO of gymetrics

Michael’s work on sensors began at Edwards Lifesciences , where he initiated a research project to continuously measure ionized calcium to control anti-coagulation procedures. Michael was the Vice President & General Manager for the Hemofiltration Business at Edwards at the time. Since then, he sold the business to Baxter Healthcare where he was responsible for integrating the unit into Baxter. Michael brings several in vitro and in-vivo concepts to gymetrics. He holds a Master’s Degree in advanced accounting from the University of Natal and is a chartered accountant. He also brings over twenty years of business and operational experience from prestigious companies such as Deloittes, PW and HP.

Eric Meurville

Co-founder and the co-inventor of cytOsens. Eric will lead the R&D team.

Eric Meurville holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Digital Signal Processing from the “Conservatoire National des Arts & Métiers” Paris, France. He has led the Product Design Group at the “Laboratoire de Production Microtechnique” of the EPFL since 1999 and is responsible for advanced research projects in the field of wearable and implantable biomedical devices. From 1995 to 1998 at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, his main field of research was multi-modal biometric access control systems.
He was also Project Manager at the “Laboratoire d’Etude des Transmissions Ionosphériques” (LETTI), France, from 1992 to 1995 in the field of over the horizon radars. As software and hardware developer of airborne electronic warfare subsystems, he spent 6 years at Thalès (formerly Dassault Electronics), France, from 1986 to 1992.

Yann Barandon

Co-founder and the co-inventor of cytOsens. Responsible for the Scientific advisory board.

Yann Barrandon graduated in Medicine in Paris where he also trained as a dermatologist and completed his PhD. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow (1982-1983) with Pr. Marvin Karasek at Stanford University CA, and with Pr. Howard Green, a pioneer in cell therapy, at Harvard Medical School (1983-1990) where he participated in the world's first transplantations of epidermal stem cells. He also participated in the transfer of stem cell technology from Harvard University to a spin off, now part of Genzyme Corp.
Yann works as the director of Research at the INSERM and Head of Lab at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris from 1990. Following his move to Lausanne, Yann Barrandon has shown that oligopotent stem cells are present in the mammalian cornea (Nature 2008), challenging previous dogma.
He is a member of the board of Directors of the International Society for Differentiation (ISD) and of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society. and was a Member of the Board of Directors of the European Tissue Repair Society, 1990-1995. He was elected as EMBO member in 2009 and has given over 300 invited conferences and seminars worldwide on the biology and the therapeutic use of cutaneous stem cells.

Georges Abou-Jaoudé

Co-founder and the co-inventor of cytOsens.

Georges is associate professor and the head of the “Laboratoire d’Informatique et Visualization” at the EPFL. Georges has a Master’s Degree in Architecture and a PhD in Information Science and Visualization.
